Booklet Note: The Sony Music archives contain not only one, but two 2-track stereo mastertapes for Side B of LP LSC-3155 under the identical matrix number ZRRS-3515: one with the generally known program of Danse macabre, Russian Dance, Hry Jnos excerpts and Carnival Overture, conducted by William Steinberg, Seiji Ozawa, Erich Leinsdorf and Arthur Fiedler, and a second tape featuring an all-Steinberg program with the Mendelssohn Scherzo, Danse macabre and Stravinskys Scherzo fantastique and Scherzo la russe. This also applies to the 4-track stereo work reels, which exist in multiple versions. For this special edition we have selected the second mastertape for release but also, out of nostalgia, added the Russian Dance and Hry Jnos excerpts as these, like all the other recordings in this set, had been newly transferred and remastered.
