Initial copies included “The Hip Club” membership card, for access to exclusive online content and exclusive digital music downloads. When registered, free MP3 downloads of the 2 exclusive tracks “Problem Bears” and “Ultra Mundane” were available as of June 11, 2002. Later on December 4, 2002 another free exclusive track was available for download; “Forest Edge”. All three tracks were outtakes from the recording sessions for the album “In Violet Light”. To date these three tracks have never been released in any other format. The website “thehipclub.com” is no longer active. The card itself was heavy plastic, with raised membership numbers (much like a standard credit or bank debit card.)
This disc contains HDCD coding as evidenced when played in such a unit; however no HDCD features are actually used.
