From booklet: Note: The two recordings of disc 2 for the first movement (Allegro molto appassionato) of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto from February 22, 1942, turned out to be rather long for a 78rpm record (Disc 11 – Cut 2 = 4:15, and Disc
12 – Cut 2 = 4:25). When Milstein rerecorded the same piece on May 16, 1945, with Bruno Walter and the New York Philharmonic, this part came twice to 4:06 (Disc 1 – Cut 2, and Disc 3 – Cut 5). After Milstein rerecorded the work, his 1942 recording remained unreleased.
